Laundry Love Costa Mesa, 7-9pm Tuesday February 18, 2020

Laundry Love Costa Mesa is part of a national and now international program to offer laundry services to those who need it. See www.laundrylove.org for more information. Some people say Laundry Love reminds them of a modern day foot washing in a laundromat.

Laundry Love Costa Mesa was started in 2014 by St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Costa Mesa and is now a project of Trellis (see wearetrellis.org). Costa Mesa volunteers have washed more than 10,000 loads of laundry for those in need of this service over 5 years now.

Laundry Love Costa Mesa is held on the third Tuesday of each month from 7-9pm at the Coin Laundry, 1913 Pomona Ave, Costa Mesa, CA 92627. There are homeless guests and working families in Costa Mesa who attend.

The job is simple. Guests do their own laundry but volunteers are given quarters to put in washers and dryers. We hope volunteers will introduce themselves to the guests and get to know them a little, but it is not required.

Some volunteers like to bring things- detergent, dryer sheets, bottles of water, snacks, playthings for kids, money for machines, etc. All gifts are welcomed and gratefully accepted.

Parking at the laundromat is severely limited, so we ask volunteers to arrive a little early, 6:30pm or so. Please park in the Smart n' Final parking lot off 19th and Pomona and walk over to the laundromat. Volunteers can come any time they are available, really, and leave when they need to. It is rare than any volunteer stays past 9pm.

Guests often bring children so parent volunteers are welcome to bring their children to play with children of the guests. PARENTS/GUARDIANS MUST ACCOMPANY ALL CHILDREN UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE! We bring sheets of paper and crayons for the children to draw anything they want, but occasionally volunteers bring toys for children to share as well.

Laundry Love is a simple, easy and fun outreach to do with one or two of your friends or to take on as a group project within your organization. You can always chat with each other if conversation lags with your guest, but that rarely happens. Some of the stories that guests share are the most amazing part of Laundry Love.

May you truly be blessed through your consideration of and participation with this program. Contact the project leader, Rock Hunter through this website if you any questions. Matt 25: 35-40
